The Committee of e-Business Industry Heads (CeBIH) has elected a new leadership as Celestina Appeal, immediate past CeBIH Chairman stepped down for Ajibade Laolu-Adewale as new Chairman after two years of transformative leadership.
During Appeal’s tenure, CeBIH collaborated extensively with partners across the industry, regulators, government agencies and with all relevant stakeholders in the industry. The collaboration covered varied issues of interest such as fighting fraud, price reduction/regulation, contactless payment, dispute resolution, partnerships for better service provision etc. During her tenure, CeBIH recorded an addition of seven new member-banks.
The election which was held Wednesday July 24, 2024 at Standard Chartered Bank Head Office, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, produced Ajibade Laolu-Adewale as the new CeBIH Chairman. Effective July 24, 2024, he assumed the role of the CeBIH Chairman.
Adewale is the Group Head, Partnerships & Ecosystems, Wema Bank Plc. He served as Vice Chairman of CeBIH from January - July, 2024 and as Secretary, Emerging Payments & Technologies, CeBIH from July 2022- December 2023.
He brings to the fore, experience in the payment industry, ranging from collaboration with stakeholders, innovation, technology and research in the digital payments ecosystem.
With a strategic vision and expertise, he and his team promised to drive CeBIH forward in the dynamic field of electronic payments. The transition process will ensure continuity and seamless operations as CeBIH continues to serve its members and stakeholders.
