The Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ATCON) Chairman, Engr Gbenga Adebayo, has called on the Federal Government to make concerted efforts to put an end to youths migration, especially the professionals and talented ones.
He stated this on Thursday during the 2024 Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum On Internet Governance For Development (IG4D) with the theme: 'IG4D: Innovative Digital Economy & Safer Civic Space In Nigeria organised by DigitalSENSE at Welcome Hotels Centre Hotels in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to him, "Many youths in IT sector have migrated to other countries, leaving us grappling for limited skilled ones still with us. They fact is that, not everyone of those who have left the shore of this country are doing well. Some of them posting how much they are being paid in pounds and dollars usually fail to tell us their bills.
"The government should put measures in place to retain the few skilled hands we have now and also strategise to attract those who are already outside the country."
The event was attended by many stakeholders from public and private organisations.
