As part of its efforts to enhance satellite communication services across Nigeria, the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) in collaboration with its Channel Partners held a one-day VSAT installation training for accredited installers in Lagos. The training is designed to equip installers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively install and maintain VSAT systems, ensuring reliable communication services.
Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) said the partnership is a commitment to deepen digital connectivity in all the 774 Local Government Areas across the country.
Speaking at its Lagos office recently, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, who was represented by the head, marketing and stakeholders’ engagement, Olufunke Fagbeja, said the training was designed to equip installers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively install and maintain VSAT systems, ensuring reliable communication services.
Speaking at the event, Egerton-Idehen noted that NIGCOMSAT’s partnership with channel partners is aimed at delivering quality services to customers, and that the company is committed to innovation and strategic partnerships, as evident in its accelerator program launched in March this year.
Emphasizing the importance of quality installation in ensuring reliable communication services, Egerton-Idehen said: The training is part of NIGCOMSAT's efforts to connect all 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria with internet connectivity, as part of the Project 774 LGA Connectivity initiative. This project aligns with the strategic Blueprint of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and it is a significant step in achieving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to deliver efficient public service to Nigerians at all levels.
“As a co-anchor of the project, NIGCOMSAT is leveraging on the Ku-Band network asset of the NigComSat-1R satellite to connect 579 LGAs. We have already completed the first phase of the project which covers about 40 LGAs in eight states, including Cross River, Imo, Kogi, Kwara, Ogun, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
“The training program is comprehensive, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of VSAT installation. The installers will learn about satellite communications, installation, commissioning and will also have hands-on experience with the equipment.”
Egerton-Idehen assured that NIGCOMSAT is committed to providing unparalleled service to its clients and ensuring that they have access to the best communication solutions available. She emphasized the company's dedication to excellence and its mission to bridge the digital divide in Nigeria.
In an interview with the company’s head, marketing and stakeholders’ engagement, Olufunke Fagbeja, she explained that the training is necessary to enhance the quality of installation, which is critical to ensuring reliable communication services.
“NIGCOMSAT is building a database of accredited installers across Nigeria, which will enable the company to efficiently deploy services across the country.
“The company's commitment to innovation is evident in its accelerator program, which aims to bring together creative minds to develop innovative solutions for the market. NIGCOMSAT's commitment to innovation and strategic partnerships is evident in its collaboration with original equipment manufacturers to provide discounted rates for equipment. The company is also working with local technology partners to develop innovative solutions for the market,” Fagbeja said.
She emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships with telecom operators and the regulator to ensure alignment and synergy in service delivery.
